The word "shaman" is actually derived from the Mongolian/Eastern Siberian region of the world. On other parts of the globe the local healer can have titles such as "Medicine man", "Songoma" or "Voodoo man/woman" to name but three. Here in the West, to call oneself a "shaman" is a little misleading but it can be used as a generic, umbrella term for someone who enters "other dimensions" to bring back healing, divination or teaching. Having trained with the Sacred trust and Warrior in the heart foundation, I have a piece of paper stating that I am a "fully qualified shamanic practitioner" which enables me to get insurance. Very spiritual I'm sure you'll agree! The true work comes in the mundane though and hardly a day goes by where I don't find myself challenged or introduced to something new. Each client who comes to see me is treated on an individual basis as that is the only way to work from a place of purity. So basically, it's about working with energy. Removing stuff that's in the wrong place or returning it to where it should be. Depending on your belief system this energy can be represented in many forms - ie; power animals, angels, goddess's, psychology, super consciousness or even our own ancestors. We find what works best with your existing belief system or guide you towards other esoteric traditions as a way of finding your true spiritual path. |
